History of EpoxyFlex
Ingenuity, understanding the needs of roofers, and a hard-core dedication to quality drive the makers of EpoxyFlex, past and present.
In the early 1970s, when roof coatings required multiple application layers and served mainly as a reflective surface, roofer Mike Logan saw the deeper needs of roofers and the roofs they worked on. He set about to produce the finest roof coating possible - one that protected roofs from ponding water and UV rays and that had strong adherence to all roof types as well as flexibility for moving with normal shifts in underlying roof structure.
His invention - EpoxyFlex - met these needs and went far beyond, adding insulative power, longevity forthe lifetime of a roof, and protection against extreme weather conditions, from cold and heat to hail, wind, and ice.
In the beginning, Mike made and sold EpoxyFlex out of his own garage, experimenting and improving the product to accommodate all roofing applications and conditions - from new roofing to maintenance and repairs. He took it on the road with his roofing company, solving one roofing problem after another and drawing the amazement and wonder of his customers.
Over time he perfected his formula, expanding from his initial one-man efforts to build a grassroots sales and marketing effort on a regional basis. In his travels, he met maverick attorney Stephen Bennett who advised him against patenting the formula and assisted him in strengthening the product’s position and marketability.
EpoxyFlex gained a reputation for solving thorny roofing problems that no other product could touch - chronic leaks, deteriorated foam, delamination, ponding on all roof types, corrosive chemical and grease emissions - and for unusual applications such as coating underwater tanks and pools, cooling buildings through application inside attics and outside walls, protecting against nightly fireworks displays, and guarding cell towers and pipelines from extremes of weather.
EpoxyFlex defines the coatings category and has never been matched for its properties, features, and ease of application by any competitor. Today the product is ideal for protection of nearly all roof types and can extend the lifetime of most roof types far beyond their original warranty dates.
After building a product beyond compare, Mike Logan decided to turn over management and operations of the business to a new licensor, SafeTight, Inc., helmed by entrepreneur and sales maven Craig R. Peterson . Quality, integrity, and real value are the founding principles of SafeTight, Inc., embodied by its founders, president Craig Peterson, legal counsel Stephen Bennett, and operations leader Linda Wolf.
Just as Mike’s commitment to the real needs of roofers has never waivered, Craig and the rest of the SafeTight crew are focused on developing the finest sales support network possible to make EpoxyFlex widely available to the roofing industry. Solving tough roofing problems and thrilling our customers remains our core focus. From its grassroots beginnings to today’s national and international efforts, EpoxyFlex continues to push leadership in roof coatings to new levels.
